Exco Announcement - 14 April 2021
Our chapter membership hits 500!
I would like to announce that our Chapter membership has grown to 500! Welcome all new joiners and we are so please to have you onboard. In the last few months we have conducted 3 sharing seminars (Click on Event Coverage 2021 to read more), the most recent was our first hybrid physical and virtual event jointly organised with AISP on Cloud Security @ IAL. We renewed our MOU for another 2 years with AISP to collaborate and develop our Ecosystem at that event . Our partnership will allow members from both associations to attend each other events and jointly engage industry leaders to share their insights and knowledge.
In the coming weeks, we will be starting our inaugural Mentorship programme. We have 62 applicants to be mentors or mentees. Alexandra and Paulo our Outreach Exco Directors will be reviewing the applicants to match suitable mentor to mentee, they will get training on coaching and mentoring. Mentee will get guidance from experienced industry leaders to steer them toward their cybersecurity aspiration.
A career sharing session led by Neha and Alice is planned on the 29 April targeted at newbie who wants to find out more about how they can transit into Cyber Security profession. Joseph our Director Ecosystem is finalising a collaboration with AI Singapore (AISG) to educate AI domains knowledge to Cyber professionals and vice versa, more will be announced later. In addition, there are also schools outreach being planned out by Paulo and we'll need volunteers. Secure Singapore 2021 planning is also about to kick start.
All these activities and initiatives are ideas and efforts driven by our Exco and Sub-Co volunteers. They are simply amazing and are so driven to contribute back to our professional community, I am extremely blessed to have them in my team.
We are only as good as a community, if you are keen to volunteer and help the Exco please reach out to us.
In the meantime, stay safe and stay tune for news on our activities. Join us.
President (ISC)2 Singapore Chapter
(ISC)² Singapore Chapter is a non profit member community of (ISC)² credential holders in Singapore. We aim to advance the Singapore ecosystem of Cyber and Information System Security Professionals. We provide members with the opportunity to build a local network of peers to share knowledge, exchange resources, collaborate on projects, and create new ways to earn CPE credits.
Our chapter programmes provides members access to knowledge sharing from Government Agencies and Industry leaders. The community is focus on helping the development of leaders and professionals in information systems security. We strive to keep our members informed of the latest advances in technology, techniques and policies. We also promote awareness of the profession and educate the public on how to defend against security threats.
Who are we ?
Our members consist of (ISC)² credentialed professionals who hold either a SSCP, CAP, CSSLP, and/or a CISSP or advanced concentration certification. We have more than 300 members and am growing fast. We have a wide spectrum of members; Students, Practicing Professionals in different specialisations, Senior leaders in the Cyber business and Senior Security Officers and Advisors in Gov Agencies and Industries.
How is the Chapter run?
The chapter is run by a group of dedicated Exco volunteers who meet monthly to plan and organise professional events and activities throughout the year. Visit our Executive Committee page to see our team for this year.
What events do we organise?
We try to have a mixture of fun and learning in the events we organise. We aim to organise an event every month of the year. Our aim is for our members to earn a substantial amount of CPEs from our activities. We have a full year calendar of social and professional events; from Chinese New Year Lo Hei, Bowling, Movie Night, Industries Talks at SMU, Conferences, Government Engagement and Industry Visits. Visit our Events page for our calendar of upcoming events!
Why join us?
CPEs is just one of the many benefits. The local chapter allow the community to come together to learn, network and share. You will have friends in various specialisations to consult when you need help; information security has many domains and we often are not an expert in everything. Coming together as a community allow us to engage and work collective with Government Agencies and Industries Bodies on standards and polices.
