Synopsis

Mentoring has been gearing up in recent years to be one of the key thrusts in developing talents. Organizations recognizes the mutual effect of development for both mentors and mentees when mentoring is implemented successfully. Mentors have the opportunity to expand their repertoire of professional knowledge and skills through facilitating effective mentoring conversations while Mentees have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and insight from individuals who have achieved a level of expertise that they aspire to attain. A common mistake mentors make is the eagerness to impart and download their knowledge, experience and their practical know-hows to the mentees. This result in a situation where the ownership of the action plans does not reside with the mentees thus the poor re4sponse in implementing the action plans for the development and growth.

This highly engaging talk seeks to bring across a common understanding of the different roles mentors play in a mentoring relationship and how mentors should position themselves so that they are able to guide, motivate, teach mentees effectively through impactful mentoring conversations. We will also be sharing some tips and techniques on how to transfer ownership of the action plans to the mentees thus making the mentoring relationship a meaningful and impactful one.
